Boca Raton, Fl. – Top seeds from both the East and West Divisions claimed victories on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Conference USA Women’s Soccer Tournament, hosted by Florida Atlantic.

Old Dominion (11-4-1), the overall top seed this season, needed overtime to turn back the University of Texas-San Antonio, 1-0, before Southern Miss (9-3-3) closed the day’s action with a 2-1 victory over FAU.

Both winners advance to the tournament semifinals, which are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 5. Old Dominion takes on Middle Tennessee (9-7-2), a 4-3 (0-0) shootout winner over Rice on Wednesday. That match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and will be followed at 7 p.m. by Southern Miss vs. the University of Alabama-Birmingham (7-8-3), a 1-0 winner over Western Kentucky in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The Conference USA Women’s Soccer Tournament Championship Game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7.

Wednesday quarterfinal action began with Middle Tennessee playing Rice to a 0-0 draw after regulation and two overtime periods. The game was decided on penalty kicks where freshman Alayna Lynchard connected on the game-winner that gave the Blue Raiders the 4-3 edge. Eleanor Gough was outstanding in goal for Middle Tennessee.

Then Riley Kennett scored a goal in the second overtime to give Old Dominion its 1-0 victory over UTSA. Kasey Perry recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Monarchs.

Lexxe Lipsey scored a goal midway through the first half and UAB goalkeeper Eve Beyer made it stand up for the Blazers’ 1-0 victory over Western Kentucky.

Things picked up in the Wednesday finale with Blessing Kingsley and Samantha Stiglmair each scoring goals for Southern Miss in the Golden Eagles’ 2-1 victory over FAU. Miracle Porter scored a late goal for the Owls.
